I’ve thought about it and I’ve decided on how my comic making will progress. I will do three comics that are all weekly:
Mon: “Situations Which Do Not Require A Cat”
A new situation that does not require a cat each week. You’d be surprised how many situations do not require a cat, at all… AT ALL.
Fri: “Strange Bedfellows”
When an elephant marries a donkey the stage is set for satire and sarcasm. Politics makes for strange bedfellows, and great comedy.
Sun: “Changing Gears”
In the near future the technological singularity will be broken and humanity will never be the same. Two artificial beings, a nervous wreck of an AI and an irrepressible human/mouse chimera, help find each other a place in an ever changing and ever more volatile world. What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be aware? What does it mean to be alive?
I’ll start off by only doing the “Situations … Cat” comic at first. Then, once I have got the characters for “Strange Bedfellows” properly designed I will start showing that one. Finally, after “Changing Gears” is ready, I will start that comic as well.
This way I’ll gradually ratchet up the workload for myself with comics, plus be able to have a bit of a backlog of “Strange Bedfellows” and “Changing Gears” in case I cannot make a new issue every week at first.
I will really stick it to myself to keep the posting of these regular. So starting next week will be the first official “Situations Which Do Not Require A Cat” weekly. I figure in about a month I will be ready to start showing “Strange Bedfellows”, followed by “Changing Gears” in the Summer.
The reboot of the characters and style of “Changing Gears” is still up in the air. Camille has gone through many different incarnations and I still haven’t decided on the look of the character. One version I did of her was a bit more like “Mrs. Brisby” from Disney’s “Secret of NIMH”, while some of the others were more like “Tank Girl”. I think Camille is somewhere in between those two extremes.
One thing I did decide on, though, is that if “Changing Gears” became an animated cartoon that Devo’s “Patterns” would be the theme song.
Dang… I’m procrastinating while I should be programming again… back to work.
