Starbucks is starting a new campaign to start making their coffee shops no longer look like a Starbucks. Their stores will soon lose the ubiquitous logo and try to look like an independent cafe and not part of a huge, over-reaching corporate monster.
The Seattle Times reports the coffee giant is about to take the wraps off of three new shops they’re dressing incognito. (Shhh, don’t tell anyone!) The stores will be branded with the names of their neighborhoods and no sign of the ubiquitous Starbucks symbol. They’re reportedly being designed as eco-friendly, rustic places where you can also buy a beer or glass of wine and listen to a poetry reading.

On the other hand, I was at a Marriott Hotel in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this past weekend, and a sign etched into the glass door of their little shop/café said “proud to brew STARBUCKS coffee” or something like that.

I feel like I should follow up and say that I visited the flagship of these new stores – the 15th Ave Coffee in Starbucks.
I didn’t buy any coffee.

What was it like? Was it kinda phony? Or did it have a real kind of charm to it?
