I’ve been to swing parties in real life, but this is my first online swing party I’ve been too. A Second Life denizen named Guy Goodman recently threw a swing party at Club Tropicana. It was definetely a nice change from the usual bump’n'grind particle fests that most SL bashes are. Very classy and a great show of how far SL has advanced since it first came online, not to mention they played some sweet swing tunes there as well.
Here are some pictures I took while dancing the night away. I’m the one with the lightbulb for a head. (SL name: Ness Coffee)

Hehe, these are screenshots from an online game called Second Life. I’ve been playing it off and on for the past four years and it has grown from a cheesey 3D platground to a fully immessive reality with a functioning economy.
Essentially the idea of the game is that you can create online personas (avatars) and worlds using a very robust built-in 3D editor. The types of objects you can make can be fully customized, including properties like flexibility, shinyness, texture, and material. You can also make clothes, cars you can actually drive, buildings you can live in, and buy and sell land.
The whole system includes an excellent scripting system that even allows communication between objects and avatars and the real world via email and XML.

BTW, when I said “swing party” I was referring to the style of dance, not a sex party… though there are plenty of those in Second Life as well… perhaps too many. The SL world is split up between Mature and Non-Mature zones though, so if you want to avoid that sort of thing it is possible to keep your virtual purity.
You can actually play for free, but not own land and some other restrictions, if you want to sample what SL has to offer.
Plus, you can fly!

Oh yeah, and Gadgephile? You might be interested in Second Life as there is a sizable furry faction, including pandas.

Aw shucks, Janet. Too bad I didn’t propose to you before the other guy did.
Oh well, we’ll always have Jeremy’s refridgerator letters. []

No, Gadgephile, I haven’t seen a Gadget avatar in SL, not to say there aren’t any. I think her ears would be hard to do. The goggles and tail shouldn’t be too hard though… I’d sooner make a Camille avatar, personally, but I’d probably best spend my time trying to keep my comic update in the first place.
