I don’t like Nascar; in fact I am watching it right now instead of the Simpsons because the race ran late, and I am very eagerly awaiting the end of it all.
Still, I know tons of people love Nascar, and I am wondering why there isn’t a Nascar MMORPG. You’d create your racer, start with a simple vehicle and have to earn money buy racing with other players in regularly scheduled races, allowing you to buy better gear and such.
In the time that there is no scheduled race and you still want to be online you can socialize with other racers and maybe even go on some kind of quests or something, or just watch races from the sidelines.
Or, perhaps you wouldn’t have to be a racer, perhaps you could choose a different “class” and be a mechanic, or tire-changer, or just be an annoying redneck jerkwad.
It’d be a lot more fun than watching Nascar on TV, which I really don’t understand why anyone likes. Actually, the racing isn’t so bad; that part is actually rather interesting. I think it’s horrible overdone Nascar “culture” that is getting to me. If they just showed the race and didn’t have the brainless announcers and pointless computer graphic animations I might like it. I wonder if the announcers and atonal country music annoy Nascar fans as much as it does me.
Hmm… I wonder if they will ever apply the principles of Vertical Marketing to TV shows, allowing the user to choose the “skin” of the shows they watch. I’d pick the “Al Gore Slideshow” skin, or perhaps the “Battlestar Galactica” skin just for fun.
On a side note, I really don’t get this thing where the channel you are watching has a commercial for the VERY SAME CHANNEL YOU’RE ALREADY WATCHING. I’m already watching the channel, why are you showing me an advertisement for it?
The worst channel for this is TNT. Not only will they constantly show commercials for TNT while I am already watching it, they will tell me how I feel about their shows. Feh!
