I live in the metro-east area of St. Louis, which was recently hit by a powerful and dangerous ice-storm, leaving many without power as the trees became so heavy with ice they collapsed under their own weight and severed electrical lines from here to Chicago. No power and no internet is an intolerable situation for many, so my friends and I found ourselves at a geek refugee camp in our local St. Louis Bread Company were we spent pretty much the last two days at using their free internet, drinking coffee, and sharing programming and designing tips with other developers.
While this all proved quite inconvenient and many businesses were closed and losing money, it was a beautiful sight with all the tress covered with glistening ice and the grass coated with fresh snow (and more ice). I took this opportunity to capture some of the beauty of the season:

I have around 20 more of them post in the comment section of this post:

Has anyone else noticed how much Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa and BattleStar Galactaca’s Admiral Adama look and act alike:

Both can often be seen standing still with no emotion showing except a tightly clenched jaw and a steely glare, and when they do move it’s often to pick up a telephone and give orders.
I do know LaRussa is a bit of a fun fellow when not in a game, an Edward James Olmos, who plays Adama, is quite a colorful character as well. I just wonder if Ron Moore used LaRussa as his inspiration for the character.
I’ve had this song stuck in my head for the past 12 hours:
“Noah’s Ark” by Coco Rosie
They look a bit like the Brunnen G from Lexx.
AMP Mobile and Sugarshack 2000 has come together to create the animated adeventures of L’il Bush. The shorts are pretty funny and also feature l’il Condi, l’il Rummy, and l’il Cheney. It’s worth a watch if you ask me, but it’s not the kindest to Bush if he’s your guy.

I’ve been working on my new comic “Changing Gears” for over a month now and I am getting steadily better at drawing what I want. I took drawing classes at one of the colleges I attended but they taught mostly expressionist and abstract styles of art, which may or may not be best for drawing a graphic novel or online web-comic. In many ways I’ve started over again from the beginning skill-wise.
The character Camile, a living doll made out of both human and mouse cells, is soon to be introduced into Changing Gears and I have yet to finalize her appearance. The above picture was the one I think so far is best matching what I was thinking she’d look like, but it’s still not quite what I was looking for.
In the end, there is only so much my skill is going to allow me to be able to do, so I’ll probably have to do the comic for a while before I can get any of it looking the way I want.
I thought this was a joke when I first saw this, but appearantly there really is a Japanese version of the American cartoon, “The PowerPuff Girls”. This is especially insteresting considering that the American version borrowed from and often satirized Japanese Anime. This clip is not the whole episode, but it’s enough to get a good idea of what the Japanese series is like.
Most of the characters are mostly the same except Dr. Utonium has a son, the PowerPuff Girls are created with chemical “Z” instead of chemical “X”, and they have fingers, though they seem to have kept their trademark goggle eyes.
