Emma Watson, who plays the role of Hermione in the Harry Potter movies, is said to be refusing to play the character again and she wants to be known as more than “that girl from the Harry Potter movies”. Others are saying she wants to withdraw from films and public life altogether after she was approached by a stalker at school.
Warner Bros. insists that Emma Watson will indeed be playing the role of Hermione again. She was already slated to get around 4 million dollars for the final films, I wonder if she’ll do it for 8 million?
For 8 million dollars I’d be Hermione…

On a lark I typed “Chinese Brides” into Google and I found a rather interesting site called chineselovelinks.com. It’s a site for men looking for Chinese girls and wives and for Chinese women looking for men.
Browsing the different men and women on the site has been a bit of a treat. There is a lot of broken English and it’s interesting to see who out there is looking for Chinese brides.
Here’s some interesting profiles I found:
http://www.chineselovelinks.com/Member_Profile.cfm?ID=154517&First_Name=ping
http://www.chineselovelinks.com/Member_Profile.cfm?ID=166105&First_Name=sarwar
http://www.chineselovelinks.com/Member_Profile.cfm?ID=165726&First_Name=f
A number of the profiles make references to Afrikaan, which is a variation of the Dutch language… but it could be a reference to something else.
It looks like ABC is looking to turn GEICO’s “It’s so easy a caveman can do it” advertisement campaign into a full fledged series:
“Cavemen” will revolve around three pre-historic men who must battle prejudice as they attempt to live as normal thirtysomethings in modern Atlanta.
Some of the same people championing this project are the some people who brought us “Blades of Glory”. I wonder if Will Ferrel would make a good caveman?

I’ve been a fan of the Discovery Channel show It Takes a Thief for a while now, but I just saw an episode that truly was amazing.
For those of you who do know of the show, the main premise is that a professional thief breaks into a home, steals as many valuables as possible, and then escapes undetected. The owners of the robbed house then are shown video tape detailing how the thief was able to get in and get their stuff with such great ease and then given security devices and updates to make sure it never happens again.
Usually the occupants of the house are gone when the thief robs them blind… but not in this episode. In this episode there were people in and around the house at the time it was being robbed, and they never saw the thief. He hid behind doors while people walked into rooms, he left bags of loot in near plain site as people came and left, he left put jewelry in the maid’s handbag to frame her, and he got out with over $250,000 in jewelry and other goodies (the family was loaded).
Of course, they family got everything back in the end and got a strong lesson in security. I’ve been trying to find clips of this episode on YouTube and elsewhere but haven’t found anything yet. If I find some I will definitely post them. It really is a must see for anyone.
I was recently thinking about if there was a conservative version of the Daily Show out there, and what do you know, there is one. It’s called the “Fox News 1/2 Hour News Hour” and it seems to be a show in the same format as the Daily Show except with a right-wing spin to the humor.
I admit, the humor on the Daily Show does seem to be more liberal friendly than not, but they do poke fun at Democrats and liberal view points as well.
So far, as much as this clip here is concerned it’s not all that funny, but this is just one clip:
There is a style of hardstyle techno is Europe that is starting to spread to America. Originating in Belgium and known as “JumpStyle” to many it has spread to many corners of the world, as has a new form of dancing closely associated with it:
Originally the Gabber dance style called “hakken” was used to dance to the slower jumpstyle music which is inspired on breakdance moves performed by MC Hammer but later a new dance evolved called “Skien” (to ski). Skien means kicking your feet forward and backward on the bass-line, while your torso goes the opposite way (right foot forward, torso back), once in a while lifting (one of) your feet significantly higher than usual to indicate a break in the beat. The jitterbug also contains the typical kicking moves of “skien”. The dance is also called skank but is different from the Skank associated with Ska/goth/rock/metal genres. Often another variation of this dance called “Duo-Jump” is performed by two people who choreograph their movements and perform them in unison along side one another.
Pretty neat stuff, but I think I’d blow out my knee if I tried it.
Ughh… One of my favorite shows is being ruined. Exhibit A:
What I liked about BattleStar Galactica was that it was a hard-core, gritty sci-fi series with great characters and innovative plot twists.
But hey, let’s throw that all away and turn the show into Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ’cause that was a huge hit that made lots of money and lasted tons of seasons. The producers of BSG have even hired Jane Espenson, a Buffy writing veteran, to help add to that Vampire Slayer plot rot that drops interesting story lines and real emotions for cliched dialog paired with sappy faux-grrl-power moments.
As you may have guessed, I never liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer or its writing.
I came across these from a random Google search:
For someone who is both a Battlestar Galactica fan and a Simspons fan this is really frackin’ cool… the rest of you may just shrug your shoulders.
The work is done by Dylan of Project Kooky, the site of two simply amazing artists. Here is a page with more of the BSG/Simpsons stuff:

This year at the annual Tournament of the Roses Parade there was a special entry into the parade lead by none other than George Lucas.
Here’s some footage here:
Believe it or not, there is a book out there with nothing but pictures of couples looking bored. The photographer is Martin Parr and you can see some of the bored couples for free on Slate:
CBS is in the developmental stages of producing a new Star Trek series, and this one is animated. It supposed to take place 150 years after the Next Generation series and be in a war torn universe where “Omega Particle” bombs have torn the fabric of space so badly that they are inaccessible via warp engines.
It sounds pretty neat and it is supposed to be done in a “five minute episode” style like the award winning Clone Wars series.

Every wonder what the voice actors for the Warner Brothers and Sister look like? Click on the image below to see more:
Mystery Science Theater may not be in production anymore, but Mike Nelson, the second human to be trapped watching terrible movies by mad scientists, is now putting out downloadable tracks you can play while watching big name movies like “Road House”.
Go to RiffTrax.com to check it out. Currently you can visit the site to place a vote for which movie gets the special treatment. My vote is for “Fight Club”.
I don’t know if the “Disney Afternoon” was responsible for the Furry Movement (actually the nation of Japan probably was the source of it), but it had a whole line of female rodents, bears, and other mammals that walked like humans and had secondary sexual characteristics of humans as well, including sizable breasts and feminine curves. Perhaps not the best thing for young boys with growing sexual desires to watch.
One of Disney’s cartoons called “Chip n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers” included a character named Gadget, a mouse with massive skills in engineering and being attractive to chipmunks, namely Chip n’ Dale themselves. Appearantly the character was so endearing that she inspired many out there to draw their own images of her, in varying levels of undress.
One site, The Internet Gadget Archive, has a wide variety of fan drawn picutres of Gadget, some done by innnocent children and some hopefully done by adults. I haven’t checked all the images, so there may be some x-rated ones, but I think the site is mostly PG-13. If you want to see images of Gagdet that require less imagination then type “sexy gadget” into Google and you’ll get a rather fascinating variety of pornography and cartooning… not that I suggest you should.

Here are some of the pictures from the IGA below:

The SciFi Network is going to be making a spin-off series to the critically acclaimed series BattleStar Galactaca called “Caprica”. It will take place 50 years before the human halocaust when the Cylons were first being invented.
It’s being referred to as the first SciFi “family drama” as it focuses on the family of Edward James Olmos’s character William Adama. Will it be more like The Sapronos or more like Smallville?

Warner Bros. orginally wanted Will Ferrel to play the role of the bumbling secret agent, Maxwell Smart in the upcoming Hollywood remake of the TV series “Get Smart”, but due to a scheduling conflict his fellow “Anchorman” co-actor Steve Carrell, the “Daily Show” vet and star of the TV series “The Office”, will get the chance to walk in Max’s shoe-phones.
I think Steve will make a much better Maxwell Smart than Will Ferrel ever would. He even looks like Don Adams!
What I want to know is, who will play Agent 99? My vote is for Zooey Deschanel.
In the newly released comic 52, in which there is no Batman, Superman, nor Wonder Woman, minor heroes into a new light. One minor hero, Bat-Woman, is being brought back as a lesbian, after being killed in 1979.
Is this the first lesbian superhero? There have been lesbian villians in past graphic novels, and there were some rumors about Super-Girl and Bat-Girl (who is not the same as Bat-Woman), but as far as I know this is the first lesbian super hero… at least in the DC/Marvel universes.
